Orthopedic Massage

Straightening/Correcting the Child

Did you know Orthopedic, from Greek origins, literally means straightening or correcting the child?

From those origins, most of us believe orthopedics involves surgical treatment of bones or joints, which is not entirely true.

Orthopedic massage therapy is an alternative treatment for some of the less traumatic dysfunctions we have with our skeletal and joint systems such as loss of function, pain with movement, limited range of motion, and structural imbalances.

Tissue Around the Joint

Do you have pain around or in a joint when you move?

Does it feel as if you are physically out of balance?

Orthopedic massage works to alleviate the muscle aches and bodily pains associated with joint pain plus it works to restore balance to these physical structures.

If It’s Not Broken, Fix It Anyway

Doctors are now recognizing orthopedic massage therapy as a first choice to treat soft tissue issues and injuries instead of injections, medications, or even surgery.

If it’s not broke, let’s correct it for better movement and health!

Don’t Overlook the Obvious

Are you sore or injured? Take a moment to evaluate the significance of your injury, then select a treatment option which makes sense.

Most soft tissue injuries (muscles, tendons, joint capsules, connective tissue) may be treated just as effectively using manual soft tissue therapy instead of traditional injections, hard-core physical therapy, or rest and ice.

Obviously, if a bone is broken, a ligament torn, or bleeding from a wound, get that fixed by a medical doctor first, then manual soft tissue therapy can be applied during the recovery process.

Why are you here?

Typically, soft tissue pain and injury is what initially draws a client in to see a massage therapist who specializes in orthopedic massage.

This pain could be post-surgical pain, pain from an acute injury, or pain from overuse strain due to a repetitive motion from an activity like tennis, hockey, or jogging.

When you come see us with a joint or range-of-motion issue, we will likely use orthopedic massage techniques to lengthen and soften the muscles and ligaments, permitting better range of motion of the affected joints.
